Code of Ethics

As parents and coaches, we remain role models to our children.  As players and referees, we are participants and guardians of the rules of the game.  Sportsmanship is the priority and guiding principle in the LBBA.

Basic elements of sportsmanship include:

Be Positive

Respect Others

Refrain from inappropriate words and actions

Do not bully or "trash talk"

Acknowledge the efforts of all players, referees, scorekeepers, and game management

Lancaster Biddy Basketball is dedicated to educating and inspiring each child while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship and excitement through the spirit of basketball. We strive to build self-confidence and self-esteem with positive support of the children in these leagues.

Parent Code of Ethics

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and  encouragement for my child participating in youth sports by following this Parents Code of Ethics.

I (and my guests) will be positive role models for my child, and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy and not using offensive behavior or language – and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game, practice, or other sporting event.

I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning and I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard.

I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.

I will teach my child to treat other players, coaches, officials, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.

I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices unless I am an official coach.

I will do my very best to make youth sports fun for my child and   remember that the game is for children – not adults.

I have read and understand the above Code of Ethics and agree to its guidelines.  I understand that if I do not follow this Code of Ethics I may be asked by whomever the Board of Directors appoints to enforce these ethics to leave the activity (such as a game or practice).

Coach Code of Ethics

I hereby pledge to conduct myself at all times in a way that demonstrates my commitment to the following Coach’s Code of Ethics.

I will create a positive and fun environment for the players.

I will provide open communication with parents and enlist their help and support with the team.

I will place the development of player skills and knowledge ahead of winning games.  I will encourage team play over individual efforts.  I will, in accordance with the league rules, I will do my best to grant equal playing time to all players.

I will be a positive role model for the players by showing emotional maturity, controlling my anger, and never using obscene language or gestures towards anyone involved with the program, including but not limited to, referees, parents, coaches, spectators, and players.

I will always put player safety and health first.

I will demand a sports environment that is free from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and will refrain from their use at all youth
